The Makarska Riviera is world-famous for its kilometers-long, fine pebble beaches, the crystal-clear turquoise water, and the majestic Biokovo mountain range in the background. An absolute jewel on this coastal strip is the resort town of Tučepi. With the longest beach on the entire Riviera (over 4 kilometers!), it magically attracts sun-worshippers and families every year.
However, anyone wanting to spend a relaxing day by the sea quickly faces practical questions: How much does beach comfort cost me? How expensive are sunbeds and umbrellas this year? Where can I get a proper massage, and what do I need to consider when paying?
We have looked around Tučepi for you and summarized the current prices, services, and most important beach rules.
1. Sunbeds & Umbrellas: Current Prices in Tučepi
If you don't want to spend the whole day on the hard pebble beach or your own towel, you'll gladly use the local rental options. Prices on the Riviera have been a big topic in recent years, but Tučepi offers a fair and transparent service here.
The standard price for a sunbed (Ležaljka): €10.00 per day
The sun umbrella (Suncobran): Surprise! With many local providers (such as the popular rental company Lucky Lucke), the sun umbrella is currently free (FREE) with the rented sunbed.
Motto of the local service: "Uživajte bez brige, mi pakujemo komfor!" – Enjoy your vacation without worries, we pack the comfort!
The Comfort Check:
For a tenner a day, you get a modern, ergonomically shaped plastic sunbed with comfortable fabric upholstery. With the matching umbrella, you are well protected even from the brutal midday heat of the Dalmatian sun.
2. Wellness by the Sea: Massage Prices Directly on the Beach Promenade
What could be better than listening to the sound of the waves while tension is simply kneaded away? Along the shady beach promenade of Tučepi, under the cooling pine trees, you will find professional massage pavilions.
The selection is huge – from a quick refreshment in between to a luxurious all-around pampering program. Here is the current price list at a glance:

3. Beach Service & Infrastructure in Tučepi
Tučepi scores not only with nature but above all with excellent infrastructure. The beach vacation here is designed to be extremely comfortable:
Shade from pines: If you don't want to spend money on an umbrella, you will find dense pine forests (Borovina) at the upper edge of the beach, providing wonderful natural shade.
Gastronomy right at hand: The promenade is lined with cafés, ice cream parlors (Sladoled!), beach bars, and fast-food stands. You never have to walk far for a cold Ožujsko beer or a snack.
Showers and changing rooms: Along the beach there are regular public showers (mostly free or usable for a small cent coin) to wash off the salt of the Adriatic, as well as changing cabins.
4. Important! What You Must Definitely Consider at the Beach (Legal & Insider Tips)
So that your dream vacation doesn't end in trouble, you should keep two essential things in mind:
⚠️ The Receipt Law in Croatia (Very important!)
Croatia has a strict fiscalization law (Zakon o fiskalizaciji). On signs at the beach, you will clearly see the notice: "Bez računa se ne računa" (Without a receipt, it doesn't count).
The seller is obligated to issue you an official, fiscalized receipt for the sunbed, ice cream, or massage.
You as the buyer are legally obligated to accept this receipt when leaving the business/stand and keep it. The Croatian tax authority conducts regular spot checks on tourists. Anyone caught without a receipt faces severe fines. So always make sure you are handed a receipt!
🚫 The "Towel Reservation Ban"
As almost everywhere on the Makarska Riviera, reserving beach spots overnight or early in the morning with towels, mats, or old folding chairs is strictly forbidden. Municipal workers (Komunalno redarstvo) patrol in the early morning hours and mercilessly clear away abandoned towels. If you want a good spot in the shade or in the front row, you simply have to be physically present in time.
🥿 Water shoes are a must
The pebbles in Tučepi are beautifully white and clean, but can become painful after a few meters barefoot. Additionally, there are sea urchins in the rockier sections of the Riviera. Buy a pair of elastic water shoes for a few euros in the souvenir shops on the promenade – your feet will thank you.
Conclusion: Is beach comfort worth it in Tučepi?
Absolutely! At €10.00 per day for the combination of sunbed and sun umbrella, Tučepi is in the absolutely fair mid-range of the Croatian coast, especially compared to hotspots like Dubrovnik or Hvar. Combined with a 20-minute back massage for €18.00, you can treat yourself to an absolute luxury and wellness day right by the turquoise sea for under 30 euros.
Pack your water shoes, remember your receipt, and enjoy the Dalmatian sun!
